Living with diagnosed irritable bowel syndrome can affect more than digestion. Planning an outing, anticipating symptoms, or feeling unsure about a routine can take up a lot of attention. Our conversation centers on relaxation, stress, and personal coping goals alongside your medical care.

Goals we can discuss

A goal might be feeling more prepared for a familiar outing, practicing a comfortable pause when worry builds, or making room for activities that matter to you. We'll talk about what's already in your care plan and choose a practical area for complementary support.

How sessions can fit your goals

Sessions may use guided attention, imagery, and rehearsal of responses you choose. We review what you notice and keep the work within your comfort and goals. Digestive symptoms are real. Using a psychological or relaxation approach doesn't mean your symptoms are imaginary or your fault.

Questions before you book

Is this a replacement for IBS treatment?

No. Continue care with your healthcare provider. New, changing, or unexplained digestive symptoms need medical assessment. Hypnosis doesn't diagnose IBS or determine its cause.

Is this the same as a specialist gut-directed program?

Not automatically. Structured gut-directed hypnotherapy uses IBS-specific protocols. My work here focuses on relaxation and coping. Before booking, ask me about the proposed approach, and talk with your treating clinician about whether it suits you.

Will you prescribe a diet or change my medicines?

No. Decisions about diet, medication, supplements, and medical treatment belong with your healthcare team. The consultation is a chance to discuss how personal coping goals might fit alongside that plan.

Plan your visit

Hypnosis appointments are in person at 4000 Portage Street, Suite 106, Kalamazoo, MI 49001. Allow at least two hours. Your free 30-minute consultation can be by phone or in person. We'll use the consultation to understand your goals so I can prepare a proposed plan and quote. You can start by phone and then decide whether a trip to Kalamazoo suits your goals and comfort.
