The days before a dental visit, blood draw, or medical appointment can feel harder than the appointment itself. If worry is leading you to put off care, a useful goal may be one manageable step toward booking or attending the visit.

Goals we can discuss

We can talk about the worry beforehand, the images you keep replaying, and what you'd like to do differently before an appointment. Examples include making the booking, explaining your comfort needs to the clinical team, or rehearsing a way to pause and ask a question.

How sessions can fit your goals

I'll ask about the specific situation and the support you already have. Guided attention and imagery can help you rehearse a preparation routine or a response you want to practice. Your dentist or medical team remains responsible for the procedure, pain control, consent, and clinical decisions.

Questions before you book

Can this replace sedation or pain relief?

No. Discuss medication, anesthesia, pain relief, and procedural safety with your treating clinician, and don't change a clinical plan because of a hypnosis session.

What if I faint around needles?

Tell your healthcare team before the appointment so they can plan appropriate precautions. Hypnosis here doesn't evaluate or manage fainting risk or replace medical advice.

Does research prove it will work for me?

No individual outcome can be promised. NCCIH reports some promising findings for procedure-related anxiety, while noting that the overall evidence isn't conclusive.

Plan your visit

Hypnosis appointments are in person at 4000 Portage Street, Suite 106, Kalamazoo, MI 49001. Allow at least two hours. Your free 30-minute consultation can be by phone or in person. We'll use the consultation to understand your goals so I can prepare a proposed plan and quote. A phone consultation lets you ask about preparation before arranging a separate hypnosis appointment in Kalamazoo.
